Before and After: Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara

Hello new Product!!

I’ve been yearning to try Maybelline’s The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara since seeing this ad:

I know, I know – its an advertisement and they probably took the most basic false eyelash and tested it on a woman with ridiculous natural lashes. BUT STILL GUYS. That commercial is pretty amazing.

I’ve had a pretty fun cold for the last couple of weeks which has progressed to the point where I’m coughing pretty hard all the time. Headed to Shopper’s Drug Mart to pick up some cough syrup, I totally had it in the back of my mind to swing through the beauty section as well, “just to see”. That’s what I told myself anyways, because I ended up “just seeing” Maybelline’s The Falsies Push Up Drama on sale for $7.49 (Regular price $13.99)! How could I pass that up?

So despite being sick, I’m going to show you my face without much on it, and then my face adorned with this potentially epic new mascara!

First things first, the packaging is super cute. It reminds me of a stiletto or something, I love the black, red and pink which normally wouldn’t be the best combo in my opinion. Opening it up, the tube honestly feels really cheap. Something is loose in mine, it rattles when I shake it and feels pretty flimsy. There is a nice satisfying “click” when you open and close the tube the whole way.

The wand looks pretty thick and the bristles look just like a regular silicone mascara brush, nothing exciting so I don’t know about the “push up cup brush with cup-shaped bristles”.

There’s a really obvious mascara smell to it, but nothing wildly unusual.

I’m wearing Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector with a little Powder  to set it, and essence Mountain Calling Cream to Powder Blush in 01 Let’s Climb Mount Beauty. Nothing else.

Here’s what my natural lashes look like. Pretty sparse and light, I know! That’s why I love a good mascara so much!

I have to say, I am kind of impressed, but not blown away. I don’t think I could pass for wearing false eyelashes under ANY circumstances but they do look more dramatic and “pushed up” than my usual mascara.

~Update~

My friend Trish tried this mascara and says that it was awful for her – it gave her about three clumped together lashes on each eye. I guess this just reinforces that every mascara wears differently on different people, because I definitely had a better result.

So have you guys tried Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara? Did you get results that were closer to the model’s in the ad above? Let me know what you think, I love hearing from you!

    1. This is a product I’ve really enjoyed in the 6 weeks or so that I’ve owned it and yet my friend Trish tried it and hated it!

Mascara is strange- it seems to behave differently depending on what you have to work with!

      Best of luck!
